FTP / UPLOADING FILES :

Where do I upload my files ?

In your welcome email you will receive a login username and password for your account. Connect to ftp.yourdomain.com with the login and password using your FTP program. All of the files associated with your website must be placed in the "public_html" folder .

Please do not delete any directories in your account that you did not create. This includes the "cgi-bin" folder.

Be sure to name your main page index.html.

How do I upload my files before my domain name has propagated ?

Just use a temporary IP-based address ( format: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ) instead of ftp.yourdomain.com . You will find your temporary IP-based address in your welcome email.

How do I upload files to an add-on domain ?

FTP to your primary account. Go to the public_html directory and then to the directory/username you created for the add-on domain. Upload the files.

Where do I get an FTP program ?

If you are using a Windows based PC, you can download CuteFTP for Windows from http://cuteftp.com/download/index.shtml

If you are using a Mac, you can download Fetch from http://fetchsoftworks.com/

Can I upload files via an online file manager ?

Yes. Login to your Control Panel (http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel/) Go to ACCESS MENU > FILE MANAGER.

Why am I still seeing an empty directory screen even after uploading all my pages ?

There may be two reasons why this is the case.

  • Your main page must be named index.html. If your main page is not named index.html, all you need to do is rename i to index.html and then upload it again.

  • You may have uploaded your webpages to the wrong folder on the server. All of the files associated with your website must be placed in the "public_html" folder .
